A dream come true -- sort of.
Prototype Skating started with a simple idea, and a supportive wife. After teaching myself how to design using CAD software, and the numerous attempts at outsourcing my designs to get physical pieces, my wife gifted me a 3D printer for Christmas. Since then, I'm been designing, printing, and testing every little idea that pops in my head. While working on a frame design, the teenager in me that always wanted to be a professional rollerblader spoke up. I was designing my own frame - my own pro model.
Now, almost 40, with a wife, son, and mortgage, and multiple surgeries, I've had to pivot from that dream of being a professional. I took 'pro' and turned it into Prototype Skating to reflect the trial and error of 3D printing skate parts, and to finally have a pro model of my own. I realized there are others out there like me - rediscovering a passion from our youths and all the nostalgia it brings - and know that we all wanted to be a pro at some point.
I like to think that I'm able to give everyone the opportunity to be a pro now. With a variety of customizable options, you can make unique parts that fit your style and make them your own. We can all have own pro models.
